Choizy TV ("Choizy", "the app") helps you keep track of your taste in movies and series and decide what to watch with friends. This page explains which data we use, why, and what your rights are. We kept it simple: if anything is unclear, write to us.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Ludovico Pronesti, who develops Choizy as an individual. For any question about your data: privacy@choizy.app.
What data we use
- Account: email, the name you choose, your tag (@name) and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier they give us (and your name, if they share it).
- Your taste: the votes you give to titles (interested, not interested, seen and liked, seen and disliked), rankings and duels, achievements, your streak, the titles picked for the evening.
- With others: friends and friend requests, rooms you belong to, invitations, votes in group picks.
- Preferences: country, chosen streaming services, notification settings, messages you send us with "Write to the developers".
- Notifications: if you turn them on, your phone's notification address, time zone and language (to send them at the right time).
- App errors: if the app crashes we receive a technical report (device, version, place in the code), linked only to your account's internal code, never to your email or name.
Some preferences (filters, app settings) stay only on your phone.
Why we use it
- To run the app: your profile, suggestions, rooms, friends, notifications (performing the service you ask for).
- To fix errors and keep the app secure (our legitimate interest).
- To answer you when you write to us.
Who sees what
- Your name and tag can be found in the friend search.
- Your friends (only after you have both accepted) see your votes, ranking, streak and achievements.
- In rooms, other members see the titles everyone is interested in and who is interested in a title, not the rest of your votes.
Who helps us
We use a few providers that process data on our behalf, only to run the app:
- Supabase – database and accounts (servers in Frankfurt, European Union).
- Sentry – error reports (servers in the European Union).
- Expo, Apple and Google – notification delivery and, if you use them, Sign in with Apple or Google.
- Resend – sending emails (confirmation and password recovery codes).
- Cloudflare – hosting of the website and the web version.
- TMDB – catalog of movies, series and streaming services (JustWatch data): the app requests titles without sending personal data.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union; when they do, they use the safeguards required by the GDPR (such as standard contractual clauses).
How long
We keep your data as long as you have an account. You can delete it from the app (Settings → Delete account): you have 14 days to change your mind, then we delete the account and all your data. Only data that also belongs to others remains, in a form that can no longer be linked to you (for example, a room passes to the next member). Error reports are deleted automatically after at most 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to its use. Many things you can do directly in the app (name, tag, notifications, account deletion); for the rest write to privacy@choizy.app. If you think your data is mishandled you can contact the Italian Data Protection Authority (garanteprivacy.it) or the authority of your country.
Minimum age
Choizy is meant for people aged 16 or older. If we find out that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this page we update the date at the top; for important changes we let you know in the app.
